Suwani focuses her practice on representing institutional investors in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including the formation of joint ventures, and various corporate matters. She serves as counsel to investors and developers in the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of various classes of commercial real estate, including multifamily, office, hospitality, retail, health care, and mixed-use properties.
Representative Transactions
Counsel to equity investor in connection with joint venture structuring, financing, and development of multifamily buildings, including a 24-story, 370-unit multifamily building in Charlotte, North Carolina, a 23-story, 298-unit multifamily building in Cleveland, Ohio, a 12-story, 146-unit multifamily building in Dallas, Texas, and a 36 story, 139-unit multifamily building in Denver, Colorado.
Counsel to equity investor in the acquisition and development of a multi-state portfolio of 40 operating medical office buildings and healthcare facilities totaling over 1.2 million square feet.
Counsel to equity investor for multi-phased redevelopment of a site in Revere, Massachusetts, which will ultimately deliver 16.2 million square feet of development, including 10,000 apartments and condominiums, 5.2 million square feet of life sciences and office space, 450,000 square feet of retail and civic space, and 40 acres of parks and open space.
Counsel to equity investor in the dispositions of Class-A office buildings, including an office building in San Francisco, California for $120 million and an office building in Portland, Oregon for $118 million.
Professional Background
Prior to joining the firm, Suwani worked as an associate in the business, finance and tax group of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, where she gained experience working on corporate and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, and general corporate matters.
Community Engagement
Suwani is a member of The Young Lawyers Alliance of Legal Counsel for the Elderly, a local non-profit organization that champions the dignity and rights of older adults by providing free legal and social work services to those in need.
