Behzad Malek-Madani advises institutional investors and developers on a broad range of real estate and general corporate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, development projects, joint ventures, fund formations and all types of real estate based financings. He has experience representing US and international clients at each phase of the development process including through the design and pre-development, financing, construction, leasing, management and disposition of real estate properties and portfolios across all asset classes.

Counsel to an institutional investor in connection with the formation of a joint venture for the development of One Congress Street, a one million square foot office tower with a project budget of nearly $1 billion.
Counsel to an asset manager in connection with the launch of a commingled fund with an initial fundraise of approximately $400 million.
Counsel to an institutional investor in connection with the formation of a joint venture for the development of a 500,000 square foot life sciences building in downtown Boston, MA.

Professional Background
Prior to joining DRB, Behzad was an associate in the real estate and corporate groups of Fried Frank, Skadden, and Steptoe & Johnson. In those roles, he advised U.S. and international clients on a diverse range of real estate and general corporate transactions. His experience included advising (i) a developer in the negotiation of the joint venture and construction loan to finance the development of a trophy office tower in New York, NY with a total project budget of approximately $3.3 billion, (ii) a sovereign wealth fund in the formation of joint ventures to acquire interests in trophy office assets in multiple global cities, and (iii) a sponsor in the formation of a joint venture to finance a carbon capture project.
